Varthur Santosh, contestant of Big Boss season 10 Kannada was arrested on Sunday after the forest department received complaint against him for wearing a tiger claw locket.

Deputy Conservator of Forests N Ravindrakumar confirmed about the arrest “Upon receiving the information, we proceeded to the location of the ongoing shooting incident. Upon arrival, we requested the staff to escort Santosh outside. On inspecting the pendant, it was verified to be a tiger claw, leading to his arrest”. According to the Wildlife (Protection) Act of 1972, it is considered a punishable offense to wear or exhibit any animal parts, stated the officer.

The ownership of tiger claws is illegal, and selling or buying them is prohibited. He was observed wearing the pendant during the show, which prompted the filing of an FIR. Subsequently, this legal action led to his arrest by the forest authorities.

This verdict was reached subsequent to Varthur Santhosh being presented before the court of the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) in Koramangala, Bengaluru.
